Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern Review

You deserve someone who loves you with every single beat of his heart, someone who thinks about you constantly, someone who spends every minute of every day just wondering what you’re doing, where you are, who you’re with, and if you’re OK. You need someone who can help you reach your dreams and protect you from your fears. You need someone who will treat you with respect, love every part of you, especially your flaws. You should be with someone who could make you happy, really happy, dancing on air happy.”

Excerpt from:
Love Rosie
by Cecelia Ahern

This story was told through letters, emails and instant messaging about the ever-changing relationship between the two main characters Rosie Dunne and Alex Stewart. They are both close friends since they were kids but because of each other’s circumstances, they got separated and had lived their lives on their own.

This novel was on my booklist before it was adapted for the big screen, and I was able to read and love every page of it.

I am quite choosy when it comes to romance or love tales because it is not a genre that I often read. Actually, I chose this novel because of its yellow cover (my favorite color), but once I started reading it, I couldn’t stop. I’ve only read it for one day. That’s how attached I am to reading wonderful stories like this one. I was drawn in by both the book cover and the story.

This novel is highly recommended. The writing style is distinctive, as if I were reading text messages, mails, or chat messaging. I’m definitely looking forward to the main character’s love story and how they discover they’re destined for each other. Their love, like their relationship, is adorable and pure. It simply made me feel a little sad and sorry for them because they ended up together after so many years they’ve known each other. Before they got together, they experienced too many wonderful and unpleasant things. Although many years have been squandered, the fact that they have come to the realization that they are destined to be together is a positive thing.

Considering how romantic Alex Stewart is, I believe they made the proper casting decision. I had already seen the film after reading this novel, but I still loved the book. When it comes to this novel, I felt like I had conflicting feelings, yet I truly wanted more. Love, Rosie continues to be my all-time favorite. I wholeheartedly urge all book lovers to read this.

My Overall Rating

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Anyway, here are the phrases from the book that I highlighted because I wanted to share them with all of you. In addition, I shared my insights about each quote.😊

Life is funny isn’t it? Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, just when you finally begin to plan something, get excited about something, and feel like you know what direction you’re heading in, the paths change, the signs change, the wind blows the other way, north is suddenly south, and east is west, and you’re lost. It is so easy to lose your way, to lose direction. And that’s with following all the signposts”

In life, this is somewhat accurate. Like, sometimes it seems like everything is moving in the right direction. Like everything is in order, but then someone or something comes along and ruins everything. It will not be what we anticipated it to be. I’ve experienced that several times as well. As soon as I started to feel like everything was going my way, something else happened that caused me to veer off the route I was on.

It’s funny because when you’re a child, you believe you can be anything you want to be, go wherever you want to go. There’s no limit to what you can dream. You expect the unexpected, you believe in magic, in fairy tales, and in possibilities. Then you grow older and that innocence is shattered and somewhere along the way the reality of life gets in the way and you’re hit by the realization that you can’t be all you wanted to be, you just might have to settle for a little bit less. Or perhaps a variation of what you once wanted.”

When I was younger, I had loftier aspirations, such as being an astronaut or even a queen. I also couldn’t recall ever having to overcome severe obstacles when I was younger. But as I got older, I had a lot of realizations. I looked at several possibilities. I encountered challenging circumstances. I also realized how much I miss the days when the only problem I had was losing a candy or not receiving enough attention from my parents.

Children need close friends to help them grow up, to discover things about themselves and about life. They also need close friends to keep them sane.”

Oh, how accurate this is! You can actually learn from your friends. They have taught me a lot. How bravely they battled and struggled. They keep me grounded, especially when I hear from them whenever I’m happy or through a trying moment in my life. Friends should be regarded as riches, thus you should look for real treasure and cherish them.

You can run and run as fast and as far as you like, but the truth is, wherever you run, there you are.”

I adore this quotation. When I read this, I giggled. Similar to how true love is. You can’t stop yourself from falling for that one person you never imagined you’d fall for, no matter how hard you try to reject it and how far you flee.

Even still, every time I read the quotations up top, I still get the same emotions I did when reading this book. A love story so crazy that will make everyone’s heart melt.
